Affiliate
Marketing
I'll be focusing on one main topic in
this issue -- Affiliate Marketing.
You're either an affiliate marketer or
you have your own
affiliate program. Or maybe BOTH. If
you're NOT in any of
these categories, you're losing on a
lot of opportunities to
make money online.
If You Are An Affiliate Marketer ...
Why Are You Promoting Someone's Else
Product As An Affiliate?
To earn affiliate commission?
That's true ... but there is another
important reason
that must come first before thinking
about yourself
making a profit.
Yup. You want to help your subscribers
or visitors.
Only then, will you want to make your affiliate commission.
It sounds corny and cheesy right?
But, don't you think that's true after
all?
If you recommend a product and the
customer is happy
after buying it, you're going to get more businesses.
It's just logical and practical. Besides
that, you'll feel
happy when you go to sleep at night.
If you start to change your thoughts on
how to ADD VALUE
to other people's life by becoming an
affiliate rather than
thinking how to make money, trust me
-- You'll get
excited about it and be prosperous.
You'll cut down stress
because you are not desperate for
sales anymore.
How To Choose What Products To
Promote?
Whatever products that you plan to
promote for commissions,
YOU MUST LIKE THEM or HAVE REVIEWED
THEM first.
No exceptional to this rule.
Imagine if you have never been to
Hawaii -- Can you
recommend your friends to go there for
a holiday?
But if you had been there and enjoyed
it, I guess you'll
be all excited to tell your friends
about that place.
In my experience, I have never promoted
a product that
I have not reviewed personally
unless it's a product that
cannot be reviewed like a tele-seminar
or a product/service
that has not been created yet. Even if
I do, I'll make
sure that I know the creator/organizer
personally so that
I can rest assured that he will deliver
what he claims.
==========================================
Side note: If you're an affiliate
marketer that is not
building a 'permanent' online
business, you don't need
to review or like it. A non-permanent
affiliate marketer
is someone who promotes the product
without the
customer knowing the existence of the
affiliate marketer.
An example is using Pay-Per-Click to
direct traffic directly to
the sales page of the affiliate
program. This is the strategy
that
Google Cash focuses on.
===========================================
There are many reasons why you need to
do that. But
I think the main reason is, you don't
want to associate
your name with rotten eggs. If you
promote a product blindly,
do you think your subscribers/visitors
will trust you again
if the products they had bought
through you are not up
to the claims?
Maybe. But if you do that five
times, YOU'RE OUT.
"But if I do that, I won't have
time to review all of
the products I want to promote."
So don't promote it!
For instance, I get quite a number of
Jv proposals each week.
Sometimes, I'll just politely turn it
down because I just
don't have the time to review it.
It's ok. Don't worry about losing the
affiliate commission.
Plan and think LONG-TERM. You might
make a lot of
money right now but over time,
people will start to
lose trust in you if you keep on promoting
products that you
don't know the quality of.
Another Tip To Select A Product To Promote
Don't promote a similar function
product.
Let me explain --
I'll try not to promote a 'similar'
product. Like,
I won't promote three types of autoresponder to my
prospects to choose from. I'll just promote
one autoresponder
that I use. Why? Because I know
this autoresponder is good.
If you are promoting more than one
program of similar
type, you might get your prospects
confused. Just choose
one that you think is the best.
For instance, if someone was to ask me
what hosting
or e-commerce solution to use, I'll
ask them to go for
Third Sphere. This way, I'll narrow
the choices for my
prospects and also, give them the BEST
CHOICE that I
know of. Secondly, I'll be a
'recognized' affiliate for Third
Sphere (More on that later).
Avoid This If You're Not A Pro
Once in a while, you'll see a high-end
product being
promoted online. Or, it could be a
'Fire Sale' promotion.
If you're not a pro, avoid it. Don't
get involved with it no
matter how big is the affiliate commission
is.
The main reason is, you'll be wasting
your time, effort and
money. But worst of all, you'll get
disappointed.
Sounds cold? Good. I like to be frank
so that I can teach you.
Recently, I came across an internet
marketing seminar that
cost $2997 (or $3997, I can't remember
the price exactly). One
of the affiliates to this program was
Nitro
Marketing.
If you're not a pro, you wouldn't want
to compete with them
because they have over 50 products.
I think I saw that they are offering
bonuses over $10,000
if anyone will buy from their
affiliate link.
Now -- Let's be sensible. Do you think
someone would rather
buy from you or from
Nitro Marketing
to get bonuses worth
over $10,000?
Secondly, by the time you promoted it,
your potential
customer might have already bought it
from someone else
because the same customer is probably
subscribed to other
mailing lists or visited other websites
that are promoting the
same product. You'll then 'wasted' a
promotion.
Instead, choose a product to promote
that is great but is
not over-exposed.
A Good Affiliate Program Has ...
Many products that are using the same
tracking system.
This is important so that you get to
earn some back-end
sale profit as well.
Let's take
Corey Rudl's products as an
example. Since all
of his products are tracked under the
same system, you'll
be rewarded if the customer continues
BUYING OTHER
products from him. So, your effort will be rewarded many
times over. And since his products are
inter-related,
there's a good chance you'll earn more
than one-time
affiliate commission.

Side note: Derek Gehl and the team of
Internet Marketing
Center are offering "Accelerated
Internet Wealth Video"
series for 30-day free trial. This is the footage of Corey Rudl's
seminar last year's September when he
was still alive. I have
one of it at home as well and I can tell you
that it's worth the
investment.

=========================================
A real life example is
Russell
Brunson's products. Recently,
he launched a new membership site
called
Self Improvement
Millionaire. I did not promoted it at that time but I was
rewarded with several sales because
I've promoted his
other products previously.
In fact, many of my own
affiliates get this privilege as
well because I use the same
tracking for my new products.
Full details of my affiliate
program is at
http://www.mymarketingtactics.com.
You can join for free.
This does not mean that I'll no
longer be interested in
promoting one product. You'll just
need to justify how valuable
the product can be helping your
customer and how much
profit you can get from the one-time
earning.
Normally, I'll do a JV swap if
it's a one-time commission
product so that it's fair for
both parties. Of course, I'll make
sure that the product that I
want to promote is excellent.
