Sunday Email #37: Don't Care About Them

If you're new to my subscription and wondering what is a "Sunday Email", it's an email full of my rants, personal tips and opinions on marketing especially in the "internet marketing" niche. Sometimes, opinions on life. Whatever it is... it'll give you value after spending time reading it. To make sure you won't miss any future issue, subscriber for free at http://www.sundayemail.com.

You know-- sometimes my Sunday Emails can be harshed. Cuts through like a ninja's blade. But come on, they're my rants. If I want to keep everyone happy and write about the colorful rainbow, birds chirping, flowers blooming, etc then I should just opens up a nursery home and take care of children.

So if you can relate to what I wrote when reading it-- good because I know it had just served the purpose of helping people.

One more thing-- it'll offend marketers. I hope you're not the one.

Re: Don't Care About Them

Let's get this straight - your mailing list is the MOST IMPORTANT asset of your entire business. If you're new to this internet marketing game, you probably won't understand what I mean and THAT'S FINE. So let me simply explain it this way-- how you end up reading this blog is probably because you're my subscribed to my list. I have a list and whenever I need to reach out to you to tell something or to sell a product, I can email you.

And if you don't know how to build your own list or still struggling to get one, then the best I can do is to recommend you LIST PROFIT System - very affordable and packed with great step-by-step content. I don't get rich selling you that. Or you can look around and buy those hundreds of dollars courses available out there. Your choice.

For those who have a mailing or going to have one will understand today's rant.

Do you feel 'guilty' when you're selling to your list?

I don't.

Why do you build a list in the first place? If you say that your purpose is help people, that's great. And I hope your subscribers help you too or else I don't know how you're going to live by working without income.

I build my list because I want to make money. You think that's a hash truth? If you like to listen to an internet marketer that will say the things that you want to hear but not the truth – go ahead. Plenty of them out there.

The relationship you have with your subscribers is very easily defined - they know you're going to sell to them and they'll be cool with that as long as you play your part right. If they're not cool, then you're in big trouble bucko.

Well, playing your part right simply means that you'll make sure that you'll only sell good stuff to them and balance up your selling. Sell some, give some (but got to be real value content). You can't expect to be selling the crap out of your subscribers everyday (although some marketers will disagree with me by showing how much they make by daily mailout).

If your subscriber complains that you're selling too much, then you should see what you've been promoting lately. And if you KNOW FOR SURE that you're not overdoing it, then you should just ask your subscriber to unsubscribe.

If your purpose is to make money from your list but this subscriber is not going to buy but keep on continue to complain about your emails - DUDE - what were you thinking to 'keep' this fella?

You want them to buy. Like I said, it's a simple relationship – you give value and in return, you expect to be rewarded for your effort. And if your list won't buy, then they're not 'showing you some love'.

But sometimes – it's not their fault because you're AFRAID TO SELL. You didn't email them often enough.

You're afraid that they'll be unhappy or upset.

Trust me, you can't make everyone on your list happy all of the time.

You're afraid that they'll unsubscribe.

Err... well... so? They don't see you're providing value so might as well they don't stay in your list.

You're afraid that they'll scold you.

Come on. Those people who scold you in emails are COWARDS. I'll tell you why - if they're your neighbors that you see every morning, do you think they'll still post nasty comments on your blog or send you hate emails? (smile) They're doing that because they can cowardly hide behind their computers. To me, I don't talk to cowards.

You're afraid they don't have any money left.

You know, it'll be kinda an insult to your subscribers if you don't even have the confidence that they know how to think whether the offer is suitable for them or not. The same subscriber won't buy everything you sell!

On the selfish point of view, if you don't sell, they're going to buy from someone else's anyway. Meaning, someone's gonna make that money, so why not be you if you think you deserve it?

If you've a list, don't feel bad to promote to them.

And if you don't - make sure you DO promote to your list when you got one.

Be bold.

Be daring.

And most importantly, be profitable.

If you've find value in what you read today, please leave a Comment or feedback? Needless to say, I will definitely appreciate it because I read all Comments personally and gotten the chance to know you at the same time.

Hi Patric,

Thanks for another great post. I fully agree with you that we need to build a List of subscribers to really make some money on the Internet.

Like you say, we must make sure we DO promote to our list when we got one.

Best Wishes,

Thanks for the rant/tip Patric,

I happen to be 1 of those who don't send many mailing to list to sell things.

I've gotten the types of email you mentioned in the past so I polled my readers and the ones who voted all said I didn't send to many emails or try to sell to much so the comments in the emails must have been generic comments about email in general.

So to be "safe" I've been making an offer once even though I know better.

I've bookmarked this post so I can come back and remind myself why I've built my list.

Thanks for the rant/tip/advice.

Hey Patric,

Either great minds think alike or all marketers face the same issue.

Just yesterday in the e-mail I sent to my list, I answered one guy who took our survey who claimed that all "gurus" (and he included me in that group, even though I'm nowhere near as profitable as you and many other honest marketers) were trying to bait and switch on promised results, and that we basically overcharge for our how to.

He ended with that I needed to provide "how to" in the e-mail, at no charge, and then maybe I'd be worthy of the challenge he set before me.

I basically explained what you just put up there and showed how I did provide value, and invited him to either provide me his real obstacles, so I can provide a VALUE for VALUE situation, or else unsubscribe.

It is honor to read your posts, Patric. And, I consider you one of my mentors, even when we rarely communicate.

Make it a great day!

Hey Patric,

Thanks for the post. Its good timing for me, I recently went through a bout of nasty unsubscribers. Its a little unnerving when you have a small beginning list.

Thanks again for the advise

Patrick, well said. I believe that some of us who initially started out with websites, blogs, etc., just to help others, grew into being marketers and learned those lessons over time. Laying it all out up-front as you did will be a big help to people just getting into the game.

Good Morning Patric ... it is morning here in Vancouver :-)

I have a small list that I mail to whenever I have an affiliate promo (the affiliate does all the copywriting etc) and then once a month with a newsletter. I started on this in January of this year and had my first affiliate sale.

The affiliate promo campaign usually takes up one week only ... so, from your "rant" I should be sending something of value to this list during the other three weeks. I am sure I can find some good stuff to send them and at the same time work on building my list.

Patric,
Very well said! I'm glad someone else is out here not afraid to tell it like it is. Helping people get over fear (False Evidence Appearing Real) is an awesome gift. Until someone gets over themselves, how can they expect to be successful? In my book I call it "Rolling Up the Newspaper of Love and Giving You One Across the Nose".

You should change your tag line to "You Chan Con It!" I couldn't believe Internet Mastermind 'con' people to sign up to your MY Adwords workshop by offering $250 Adwords Credit early birds gift which is never delivered. Perhaps this is how dirty Internet Marketing is. Very disappointing.

Hi Patric,

Excellent post. After being at this game for more than a year and half now, day and night, I've come to realize something...

While marketers like marketing, they like to buy stuff. Sure they may complain and rant and rave in the forums, but they still buy every freakin product on the market.

So why not just give them what they want. Take the path of least resistance and let them decide to buy or not to buy.

I was struggling with the whole sell or not to sell situation on my list, until I examined closely my own habits.

That's when the light came on.

Your post is greatly appreciated.
