Sunday Email #35: Wrong Idol
If you're new to my subscription and wondering what is a "Sunday Email", it's an email full of my rants, personal tips and opinions on marketing especially in the "internet marketing" niche. Sometimes, opinions on life. Whatever it is... it'll give you value after spending time reading it. To make sure you won't miss any future issue, subscriber for free at http://www.sundayemail.com/
Whatever writing of mine that you're reading here DOES NOT affect buyers, only sellers (especially marketers selling internet marketing stuff). As a matter of fact, buyers will have more advantage now. And this is not a "Sunday Email" rant.
Re: WRONG IDOL
I think this has to stop- idolizing wrong internet marketing idols/gurus.
I'm a fan of Michael Jackson because I like his music and admire his dance moves (apart than whatever accusation that's going on about him).
I'm a fan of Bruce Lee because he really knows how to fight and a man of philosophies.
I'm a fan of Ben Stiller because he is one funny dude. (The actor dude in Something About Mary and Tropic Thunder.)
There are people who idolize internet marketing gurus by fame that are actually not internet marketing gurus.
Let me explain – you should be a fan of an internet marketing guru because he's really good with internet marketing. That makes sense, right?
Like, I respect John Reese, of Traffic Secrets. Not only he's really an expert when it comes to marketing online, but he has the highest integrity that you can find in this circle. When he shared with me the story how he got started, IT IS inspiring. If you have the chance to meet him, ask him to tell you his history.
But dude – it's CRAZY idolizing someone who can make money because he got a list or have some buddies. Let me try to elaborate that in this way...
It's like being a fan to a singer that doesn't sings.
It's like being a fan to a fighter who can't fight.
It's like being a fan to an actor who can't act.
It's crazy idolizing marketing gurus that don't 'do' marketing. They say they know marketing - but what marketing do they actually do? Coming up with a product launch to sell you is not marketing, my friend.
Of course, I'm 100% wrong if the purpose of idolizing the guru is because he can make money online. If that's the case, mind as well you idolize Google's founders. I'm sure they make more.
As far as I know, most marketing gurus do not have any real businesses. And they know marketing- in theories. Ask them to go into an unknown territory to make money online, they'll going to have problem to pay for their cars.
But here's the kicker – if your ideal business on the internet is to build a list and promote internet marketing products, then idolize as much as you want because they are your role models.
And for me, I don't buy the idea of just selling internet marketing products. I'll sell anything on the internet as long as it can make money and do not conflict with my own principles (like I won't sell stolen babies online, you know). Also, it doesn't matter if it's promoting through a list or not.
When you're 'stuck' with one idea, that's where it gets complicated - even if it's a good one.
Bruce Lee once said, "It's easier to defeat an opponent with a knife because he's only thinking on how to use the knife, a single weapon- where else, I have 2 hands and 2 legs as my combat weapons to attack."
If you’re stuck with a 'knife', your creativity is block.
Speaking of a real internet marketing guru, Yanik Silver is one of them – he's giving away The Maverick Manifesto Video for free. CLICK HERE. Subscribe to his list because later on, he'll be promoting his front-end product at a ridiculously low price. And just so you know, the front end product IS A REAL PRODUCT. I know because he has shipped me the package. Good stuff.
If you've find value in these tips, please leave a Comment or feedback? Needless to say, I will definitely appreciate it because I read all Comments personally and gotten the chance to know you at the same time.
Thanks,
Patric

Hello Patric? I am "Diving" into your blog! What I really learn is this model of the physical product being shipped for low price...the same as our friend Matt Bacak, Frank Kern and Stephen Pierce, and Stompernet. This is the model I am following for Continuity long term success.
Patric,
You're spot on, as usual. This is such a simple principle, but yet so important. Please keep on "ranting"!
Hello Patric,
I have been reading your blog and looking at your website for a few weeks now. I like your information, your insights.and your inspirations.
It prompt me to look at your products and I've found them interesting and after thinking for sometime, I wanted to try them out. I'm 28, just got married and I do hope the extra cash will help me.
But the thing is, I am torn between the 2 products you have, 'The Chan Do Internet Success System' or 'The Internet Wealth Blueprint'
Please advice on which in getting 1st because I'm a complete newbie. Sorry, I know I should ask at the inquiry through your web page, but because you said you'll read the comments personally and therefore I just hope i can get some of your advice.
Thanks in advance and keep it up. You are an inspiration for us all
God Bless you and your family
Hi Patrick! Glad to know I'm not the only Michael Jackson fan left on this planet. Lol.
Your views on idolizing Internet Marketing gurus is just spot on!
The people you idolize may determine where or how you'll end up.
Also very relieved at you saying you'll sell anything on the Ineternet as long as it doesn't offend your principles.
Nice one.
You are so RIGHT, Patric. I got stuck in that model for quite some time but am now breaking out of it. I have to ask myself how did I get on so many lists...from the same guys? But this is how they work right? Get you on one list, promote their buddy, get you on that list, he promos back and round and round we go. Oh,lots of good freebies and some good advice but nothing like what you offer right here in this Sunday email series.
Now Yanik is a man I have been watching for some time and I'm really fired up about his video..he is really personable and what a lifestyle he lives! Been keeping up for some years now with his stories and pics.
