My Business Is Shrinking On Purpose

See my video below:

I've invested a lot of time and money for the video. AND IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY IMMEDIATE INCOME FOR ME. Nope. But if I was to use that kind of resources on other internet ventures, I would have turned it to at least $5,000 cash. I'm not saying that I'm regretting it- I'm emphasizing a point that you'll catch on after reading this post.

I can remember the reason why I started marketing online 5 years ago- I want to make money and be stress-free from working.

You know, the DREAM.

And I DID achieve that... for a while.

(I wrote about this two years ago at http://www.internetmarketing-tactics.com/blog/2006/10/sunday-email-part-3.html)

Then in 2007, I bought an office and hired a team.

Yes, I admit, I did made more money online that I will never achieve if it wasn't for this expansion.

But I was back in a 'job' because now I have responsibilities to fulfill and work even more. Well, for those who enjoy the 'game' of being a CEO or Boss, good for them.

Then recession came and it hit me like a whirlwind.

I would be lying if I said my businesses weren't affected. And if any marketers tell you that, watch out.

Good news is, everything is back to normal now because I've changed my direction on other internet business models and strategies like affiliate marketing, focusing on hungry niche markets, building real value websites, etc. I would be almost dead if I just stick to selling internet marketing courses. :-)

Then it strikes me- How I wish I was still working at home without having to pay any fix salaries and commitments. And I would definitely prefer to be at home when my first baby is born next year.

Don't you?

The video you saw earlier is where I am today. Am I not happy with it? Of course not. I like the way it is. Absolutely no complain.

**BUT**... it didn't really turn out to be what I wanted in the first place right? Make a lot of money online without working hard.

That is why my business is 'shrinking' in a positive way- ON PURPOSE. I'm eliminating as many commitments and responsibilities that I have so that I can have more 'freedom'.

As far as I'm concern, the secret to make a lot of money online without working hard is to cut away as many commitments as you can (because it'll give you stress and put you in a job) and don't put yourself in the limelight (because the business will require your attention).

Wait- hold your horses before you start any debate with me about this theory. I am not saying you should not have an office, hire employees or become a famous best-selling author.

I'm saying, the quality of your life is VERY IMPORTANT. Focus on that.

If you've read the book, 4-Hour Work Week (highly recommended, you can get it at Amazon.com), a true 'rich' person is not define by how much money he got but how much he is worth hourly. So say, John Doe makes one million a year but works 7 days, 16 hours a day. He would then earn $171.24 an hour.

Then Sam just work 10 hours a month but earns $1,000 an hour. I would consider Sam to be 'richer' because he has a quality life. This is possible because Sam could be a professional speaker that charges $1,000 an hour. In this case, it's fine to be in the limelight if you can your quality life. Make sense?

Wouldn't you want to work 2-3 hours a day and make as much money as what you're getting from your job?

And if you have your own internet business, wouldn't you want to make the same amount but work less?

Well, you can. That's what I'm doing and focusing on using all kinds of strategies. Like, early this year, I've launched the Niche Marketing 2.0 System for only $997 which will allow the business owner to create an authority site like successandlife.com. This is an example of an auto-pilot internet business that generates income for me.

When your business grows to a level which it's beyond your own management, outsource it. I'm not a guru for this topic but I'm sure if you look around, you can find good books, seminars or courses that will teach you that.

The Instant Sale Secrets System Coaching Program will show you how to make money online without any employees, office, website, etc. And it's suitable for whichever level you're at- newbie, intermediate or advance. Put it this way- if you're a newbie and don't bother to learn internet marketing, the system will help you to make money online very fast. If you're already doing business online, you can use the system to grow your business instantly.

It's not launch yet, but I'm going to announce a surprise VERY SOON and I highly recommend you to be in the notification list at http://www.instantsalesecrets.com/. This could be the only coaching program that I'll do for the entire year of 2008.

Any comments? Feel free to leave them below. :-)

Patric,

Nathan here from downunder!

You reminded me when I first started out with internet marketing. It wasn't easy but after struggling for one and a half year, I was able to quit my day time job.

Only thing is, I'm still working on my own and still find it hard to do the things I like.

Cheers mate!

Nice story Patrick.

I agree with your decision to downsize your business because our ultimate goal to make money online is to avoid ourselves from becoming a slave to money.

Cheers ;)

Your comments really strike a cord with me Patrick. I spent 25 years in the corporate world being buried under stress and responsiblities before walking away 5 years ago to do my own thing online. I recently had the chance to drastically increasee my business which would have meant hiring some people and office space et... luckily I cam to my sense before I took the leap.

I'm not a fan of your music on the video.....but I'm a musician from the big band days of 1940's and 50's.....began my post WWII career writing radio and TV commercials in 1948...then an on-the-air "personality" while also studying Radio-TV Engineering by correspondence...............Long story. Left the "ego trip world" to computerize water and sewer billing and A/R for my hometown utilities.....After Indiana University night classes, was Certified by State of Indiana as a Public Accountant. Have worn a lot of hats....but now believe the internet can be my path to an easier life than tax return preparation..............and more profitable a well.

Have also found the time to write and lecture about by life and some of my self help motivational materials.

So, that's why my music choices tend to be jazz and swing...with some classical as well, because my wife of 62 years is a profesional flutist. I'm the sax and clarinet part of the family.

I believe you're going to continue to be a very successful man showing many people how to be successful themselves. I like to say: "Don't Settle For Crumbs"! Life is too short for that.

As an 82 year old "newbie" who has already squandered over $15,000. in "internet coaching", (Jeremy Cobb" and also "Prosper ecommerce")....I'm progressing better now in my understanding of the basics and am trying to work on autoresponders and targeted traffic as much as I can while I complete some very late corporate tax returns for one of my newest accounting clients.

Best of luck to you Patric. You deserve it.

Well Patric another great post. I remember years ago when I sold cars and worked almost everyday to maintain my number 1 salesperson position...but the guy who won 2nd place would come to work with pictures of how he went sailing all weekend. Grrrr...I still want to strangle him! Indeed, true success comes when we can live a life of liesure, and still get paid for helping others.
