Merry Christmas and Sunday Email Part 21

If you're new to my subscription and wondering what is a "Sunday Email", it's an email full of my rants, personal tips and opinions on marketing especially in the "internet marketing" niche. Sometimes, opinions on life. Whatever it is... it'll give you value after spending time reading it.

You know-- sometimes my Sunday Emails can be harshed. Cuts through like a ninja's blade. But come on, they're my rants. If I want to keep everyone happy and write about the colorful rainbow, birds chirping, flowers blooming, etc then I should just opens up a nursery home and take care of children.

So if you can relate to what I wrote when reading it-- good because I know it had just served the purpose of helping people.

One more thing-- it'll offend marketers. I hope you're not the one.

Nonsense Of Year 2008's Goal

I like to take this chance to wish you Merry Christmas and a happy holiday! If you like to wish back, please leave a Comment at the end of today's Sunday Email.

This is the time that I like to spend the time with friends and families and reflect back what I've achieved in 2007.

But I don't believe in setting 2008 goals.

I don't mind doing a 'check up' of what I've accomplished for the last 12 months but I truly don't buy the idea of marketers selling courses based on the reason of you needing it for 2008. I think you need them now, not 2008.

You see, those who 'determine' to be successful next year are just procrastinating for their own success subconsciously. Just do a survey-- how many of those in 2006 who planned to be successful in 2007 are not achieving what they've aimed? Precisely. It's a pattern. Habit.

Do you honestly think that this year's going to be different?

If you want to be successful or make a change, the time's now. Decide today. Take action. Not plan to take action next month. If planning's part of your action, then plan. But if planning is a separate part of your supposed actions, then you're going to repeat history of no-result.

Don't like what you read?

Interestingly, NO ONE likes to know the truth if the truth is associating emotional pain to that person. Ouch. So if you don't get the message, my rant to you is don't read my next Sunday Email issue. Spend your time to eat up promises given by marketers to you because they'll sing the song you want to hear all day long.

The only reason I'm shoving the truth in your face is because I'm a common victim of this and I'm sick and tired with it. For instance, I'll have a goal to achieve by next year and by the end of that next year; the darn idea will still be sitting on my mind. Like, I can't remember how many years ago when I wanted to write a book and I've never written one until today. Why? Simply because it's my next year's goal, today's goal.

There are many marketing messages canned around the theme of making your 2008 year a better year. Stop. If you're going to invest in a course or program, make it a point that you want to make full use of it next week or latest within a month-- not for 2008, ok? Because I can predict that it'll just collect dust.

Once again, have a wonderful holiday and enjoy your Christmas celebration!

If you have been reading the "Sunday Email" series, I'll always ask for your favor to leave a Comment if you find value of what you've read. It'll be most appreciated because I read all of them personally. (smile)

P.S: Some were asking me if I'm giving away Christmas gifts. I actually did but it's with "Santa Sal". You can get it from him and I would highly suggest that because he has over 100 other gifts to be given. CLICK HERE.

Well Patric I agree with part of what you are saying. The need for action NOW is important but I do find that setting goals at year end can be very effective for my business. I am already gathering my stats for closing the business year so it is a good time to review.

Now it does not mean postponing things but taking the time each year and measuring where you are and resetting the big goals is good.

That is not the only time but for those who have never set goals on a continuing basis it is a start.

Hi Patric,
You are so right! And I'm as guilty of it as anyone. Always planning, but the challenge is to take ACTION... and now, not later. OK, I am taking your advice today... not waiting until 2008. Today I begin attacking my To Do list!

Thanks as always for distilling the best information into useful bites...

Thanks for the advice patric. Your prediction was true, the flame in me to kick start everything did douse off after 2 months of no action at all.

With this reminder, no more waiting and putting things on whole. =)

Just a side question, planning in the long run is important, yes?

Merry christmas and a happy new year to you, Emily and all your staffs! Take care always.

Hey Patric,

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I think I've known you since the first year you started online.

And I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who believes in not setting goals for the coming year.

I do feel that you should set some long range goals though. If you will do that, then next years goals
will already be in place.

BTW, keep your rants coming.

Hey Mr Patric!

Action is the only "action" that creates a result. Therefore if you don't take any action you don't get a result.

Whatever the result is, it will lead you to the place you deserve in the quickest time....

Merry xmas, Love Marco

Hi Patric

You have a wonderful way of reminding us of what's important.

I must say that I was guilty of putting off success in many areas of my life for many years. I think that part of the reason that I did this was that, deep down, I was afraid of success.

What worked for me was taking small, but consistent steps toward my goals. In that way I reached my goals without sabotaging myself along the way.

For anyone else who finds themselves sabotaging their success, try small, consistent steps toward your gaols. You'll be surprised at how much you achieve this way.
