The Roller Coaster Ride - A Marketing Lesson Learned

I had the thrill of my life when I was on a roller coaster ride
with my girlfriend, Emily some time ago.

It was really cool (And fast as well!). This is not the normal roller
coaster ride that you sit on a seat. Nope ... you 'sleep' on it as if
you are a pilot for one of those X-Wing space fighter in Star Wars.

Here's the picture before the ride:

But we didn't took the picture ourselves because we're
in the 'seat'. There was a photographer that will take
the pictures of all the customers who ride in it and sell
it for 10 bucks each!

Now, I'm not sure how much it cost in your
country to get a picture snapped, but 10 bucks for
that is A LOT here. And it's a digital camera (No cost)!

I promise to tell you a marketing strategy that I learned
from this ride, and also the photographer.

No matter how much it costs, as long as it's within
the customer's budget, the photo is GOING TO SELL.

Why?

Because he's selling the experience and memory,
not the photo.

What's the memory that I can bring home that is
tangible about the roller coaster ride?

Yup, Mr. genius ... it's the photo.

If you look back to whatever you're selling online,
are you selling the benefit of your product/service
to your prospect?

Let's say if you sell an autoresponder software.

Are you selling the software or, you're selling the
capability to automate your prospect's online business
so that they can have more time?

If I had to pay $97 for a software, I might think
twice. But if I'm paying $97 and I'll save 5 hours
a week for the rest of my life, what's $97 to that?

Other than the ride and marketing lesson, it
was a great vacation I had that time. :-)
